Accommodation

Maison Berchon is very light and sunny as it faces south and west. Architectural features abound, including a stunning, traditional, turned-wood Bearnaise staircase, original wood flooring and marble fireplaces. To highlight the best of the house’s heritage, we have kept design elements simple with pale walls and woodwork, travel-related prints and splashes of colour – such as the Basque-red pillar in the basement.

To meet the needs of modern living, you’ll find free, high-speed broadband with wifi access; a 32” TV with Wii console and DVD player; high-quality, spacious bathrooms; a fully-equipped kitchen/diner – and central heating for the winter months. In contrast with the classic upper floors, an ultra-modern concrete staircase leads down to the games room.

Wooden double-glazed windows and electric window shutters ensure that the house conserves energy, you can keep it cool during the day -  and you can block out the light, if that’s your wish.

When you arrive, you'll find that the beds have been made; you have ample towels for use indoors and for swimming - and there's a welcome pack in the kitchen, so you can have a cup of tea or coffee, a glass of wine or a bite to eat without having to dash immediately to the shops. We also provide environmentally-friendly, household cleaning materials as well as loo paper, washing up liquid and other essentials.

Keeping safe:

The house has smoke and fire detectors, a carbon monoxide alarm and safety guards on low windows. The pool’s rolling security cover complies with the strict French standards for pool safety. And, by closing the sliding front gate, you’ll have a completely enclosed garden in which children can play safely.

Please note that the design and layout of Maison Berchon, with its many stairs, make it unsuitable for those who are physically handicapped or infirm.

Many families with toddlers have stayed here and had a lovely time - but, if you have children under the age of five years old, please talk to us so we can be sure that the house and grounds are suitable for you. A cot and a high chair are available.
